What is Deltasone?

- if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
- if you have a history of heart attack, heart problems (eg, congestive heart failure), high blood pressure, liver problems, kidney problems, diabetes, an underactive thyroid, seizures, adrenal gland problems, or any mental or mood problems
- if you have weak bones (eg, osteoporosis) or muscle problems (eg, myasthenia gravis)
- if you have intestinal problems (eg, blockage, perforation, or infection; unexplained diarrhea; diverticulitis; ulcerative colitis), recent intestinal surgery, any stomach problems (eg, ulcers), or inflammation of the esophagus
- if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
How to take Deltasone?
Use Deltasone as it was prescribed by your doctor. Read the label on the medicine. Take Deltasone orally with meals. Do not take double dose.
What drugs may interact with Deltasone?
- Anticholinesterases (eg, pyridostigmine), methotrexate, aspirin, ritodrine, mifepristone, water pills (eg, hydrochlorothiazide, furosemide), or live or attenuated live vaccines
- Barbiturates (eg, phenobarbital), ephedrine, carbamazepine, hydantoins (eg, phenytoin), or rifampin
- Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin) or killed or inactivated vaccines
- Clarithromycin, estrogens (eg, estradiol), cyclosporine, oral contraceptives (eg, birth control pills), or ketoconazole

What side effects may I notice while taking Deltasone?
- clumsiness; facial flushing; acne; increased sweating; nausea; feeling of a whirling motion; headache; dizziness; general body discomfort; increased appetite; upset stomach; sleeplessness; nervousness.
- severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing; rash; itching; tightness in the chest; hives; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); changes in body fat; black, tarry stools; changes in skin color; changes in menstrual period; easy bruising or bleeding; chest pain; infection (eg, fever, chills, sore throat); muscle pain, weakness, or wasting; mental or mood changes (eg, depression); seizures; sudden severe dizziness or headache; severe nausea or vomiting; swelling of feet or legs; thinning of skin; vomit that looks like coffee grounds; tendon or bone pain; unusual skin sensation; vision changes or other eye problems; unusual weight gain.
