Serophene (Clomiphene)

What is Serophene expected to be used for?
Serophen is a medication for treating female infertility and for certain conditions as determined by your doctor. Serophene is an ovulatory stimulant. It helps to produce more hormones that cause ovaries to release 1 or more eggs.

In which cases Serophene shouldn’t be used?
Do not use this drug if you have abnormal vaginal bleeding; if you have or had history of blockage of blood vessels (blood clots) in the lungs, legs and other parts of the body; if you have liver problems, uncontrolled thyroid or adrenal gland problems, if you are allergic to any ingredient in it; if you’re pregnant; if you have ovarian cysts (small growths on the ovaries) or enlargement not due to polycystic ovarian syndrome; or a brain lesion (for example, pituitary gland tumor). Please contact your doctor if you have or had history of any of abovementioned problems/diseases.

What are precausions and medical interactions for Serophene?
Serophene may interact with some medical conditions. Please consult your medical assistant if you have any following medical condition: if you have depression, polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis, or uterine fibroids if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement; if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or have other form of allergy; if you are planning pregnancy or are breast-feeding your baby;. Serophene may interact with some medicines. Nevertheless, no particular interactions with Serophene are known at this time. Please call your medical assistant if Serophene may interact with other medicinesthat you take the same time. You should consult your doctor before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.

How is Serophene expected to be taken?
Use Serophene as your medical assistant has recommended. Please read carefully the label on the drug for exact dosing instructions. You should take Serophene drug orally with or without food. Properly timed sexual intercourse is important for good results. Ovulation commonly occurs in 5-10 days after a dose of Serophene. If pregnancy has not occur after 3 courses of drugs, further treatment is not recommended. Please avoid long-term use of Serophene. If you have missed a dose of Serophene, please contact your doctor at once for futher recommendations.

What is important safety information for Serophene?

• Pregnancy with more than 1 fetus (eg, twins) can happen while you are taking Serophene. Be sure you have discussed the potential complications and risks of multiple pregnancy.
• Lab tests, including pregnancy tests, may be performed while you use Serophene. These tests may be used to monitor your condition or check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments and recommendations.
• Use Serophene with caution in the ELDERLY; old people may be more sensitive to its effects.
• Enlargement of the ovaries may happen during or shortly after taking Serophene. Contact your doctor if you experience weight gain, any pelvic or stomach pain, pain or stomach enlargement or discomfort while taking this drug.
• Serophene may cause lightheadedness, dizziness, vision disturbances, including spots, flashes and blurring. If you take it with alcohol or other certain medicines these effects can be worse. Use Serophene with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.
• Serophene should not be used in CHILDREN; safety and effectiveness in children have not been confirmed.
• PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: Please do not use Serophene if you are pregnant. Avoid becoming pregnant while you are taking it. Contact your doctor at once, if you think you may be pregnant. It is not known if Serophene is found in breast milk. Do not breast-feed if you are taking this drug.

What are possible side effects of Serophene?
All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or little, side effects. Please contact your medical assistant if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome: Hot flashes; vomiting lightheadedness; flushing; dizziness; pelvic pain or bloating; headache; nausea; enlargement of the ovaries; blurred vision or vision problems (spots or flashes); mood change; stomach pain; breast tenderness; enlarged breasts;. Please contact your doctor as fast as possible if any of these SEVERE aftereffect occur: Spontaneous abortion over stimulation of the ovaries; severe allergic reactions (rash; itching; tightness in the chest; hives; swelling of the mouth, lips, face, tongue) difficulty breathing; increased risk of cancer of the ovaries;.

What to do if overdose is suspected?
Contact emergency at once. Symptoms may include flushing; blurred vision; stomach pain nausea; vomiting;.

How is Serophene should be stored?
Serophene should be stored at room temperature, between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C). Store away from heat, light, moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep this medication out of the reach of children and domestic animals.
